Psychotherapy in Brixton & London Bridge
I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist working with adults. I usually work face to face, in London Bridge and Brixton, but have some online availability too.
I am registered with the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC).
There are many reasons for seeking therapy. You may be feeling stuck, or sense that you are repeating unhelpful patterns, or struggling with aspects of your life and don’t know why.
What do I provide?
I provide a quiet and confidential space where we can think about your feelings and what might lie behind them. I would help you make sense of how the past shapes experiences, and relationships, in the present.
Therapy is once-weekly and generally on an open-ended basis.
What can I help with?
I have worked with a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, sexuality, the connection between mind and body, addiction, relationship issues and work-related difficulties.
I have a particular interest in trauma and the impact of our earliest experiences - how they shape our ways of being in the world and affect our relationships.
About me
I trained at the British Psychotherapy Foundation and WPF Therapy. My career started in parliament, after which I worked in corporate communications.
What is psychodynamic psychotherapy?
Psychodynamic psychotherapy is informed by ideas about how the mind and sense of self develops and processes experience. It focuses on aspects of our mental life that affect us and our relationships, but which remain largely outside our awareness.
As with other talking therapies, it aims to help someone better understand themselves in the context of a trusting professional relationship.
In psychodynamic psychotherapy childhood experiences, memories, fantasies and even dreams may be thought about.
Next Steps
If you are thinking about starting therapy, I usually suggest a short phone call, followed by an initial consultation during which we would get a sense of what it is like to work together and decide about on-going therapy.
